2006 ANNUAL MEETING
The Pastors' Banquet was attended by more than 90 people. Thank you, Rev. David Jones and the Ecumenical Christian Ministry team.
Bishop Carlton Pearson, Rev. Scott Jones, Rev. Jerry Quiring introduced themselves and new Dimensions, the Cathedral of Hope, and Faith Community respectively on Friday morning.
The Rev. Dr. John Thomas, General Minister and President, and former Presidents, Rev. Paul Sherry and Rev. Avery Post shared stories as did their spouses, Lynda Thomas, Mary Sherry, and Peg Post.
Delegates adopted proposed bylaw revisions creating a new structure for the K-O Conference.
Delegates passed a resolution calling for a Moral Wage, and defeated a resolution, "After Dialogue, A Declaration About Marriage"
Rev. Peter Scherhans, pastor of the city church in Offenburg, Germany, brought greetings from the Evangelical Church in Baden.
Delegates presented the Conference with a gift of over $16,000 part of which was a response to the $36 Solution and part of which was an expression of support of the Conference and the United Church of Christ affirmation of Equal Marriage Rights for All.
Graduates of the School of Theology were honored at the Saturday night banquet with an academic procession and bagpipes as they received diplomas.
Delegates voted to continue to give 25 1/2% of the OCWM budget to the national setting of the church, and they called for the formation of a task force to develop a multi-year financial plan for the conference.
Sunday morning worship was held at the First Congregational Church, UCC, Manhattan. Rev. Thomas preached, officers were installed, Communion was celebrated.
